Best Gifts for PS5 Owners: Our Favorite Picks This Season
Controllers, storage, headsets and games that every PlayStation 5 owner will actually use.
Buying for a PlayStation 5 owner is easier than it looks, because almost every PS5 player wants the same few things: more controllers, more storage, a better headset and the next great game. The best gifts for ps5 owners focus on upgrades they will feel every time they pick up the controller, from a second DualSense for co op nights to a fast SSD that ends the constant juggling of installed games. Every pick here is compatible with the PS5, PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro and has strong reviews on Amazon.
Below the product table you will find three gifts we recommend first, tips for choosing, ideas by type and budget, ways to make it personal and advice on ordering in time for Christmas.
Quick Picks: 3 Gifts We Recommend First
These three picks cover the most common PS5 needs: another controller, a tidier and cooler setup, and more space for games.
Best Overall Tech Pick: PlayStation DualSense Wireless Controller (Midnight Black)
Every PS5 owner can use a second DualSense, whether for local co op, a friend on the couch or a fully charged spare. This controller has tens of thousands of ratings and a 4.7 star average on Amazon.
- Haptic feedback: detailed vibrations that make games feel more immersive.
- Adaptive triggers: resistance that changes with in game actions like drawing a bow.
- Built in mic and USB C: chat without a headset and charge with a standard cable.
The trade off is battery life, which is shorter than many third party pads, so a charging dock helps. At around $75, it is the safest PS5 gift you can buy, and it also works with PC, Mac and mobile.
Best Bang for the Buck: PS5 Stand and Cooling Station with Controller Charging
This all in one stand has more than twenty thousand ratings and costs around $37. It organizes the console, keeps it cool and charges two controllers at once.
- 3 speed cooling fan: helps move heat away from the console during long sessions.
- Controller charging: a dual charging station keeps DualSense controllers ready.
- Fits every model: compatible with the PS5, PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro, with extra USB ports.
The limitation is that the fan adds a little noise in very quiet rooms. For the price, it is the most practical setup upgrade a PS5 owner can get.
Best High End Pick: WD_BLACK SN850X 1TB NVMe SSD with Heatsink
Modern PS5 games are huge, and storage fills up fast. The WD_BLACK SN850X with heatsink is a popular PS5 storage upgrade with a 4.8 star average on Amazon.
- Fast speeds: read speeds up to 7,300MB/s, comfortably above what the PS5 requires.
- Built in heatsink: designed to keep the drive cool inside the console's expansion slot.
- More games installed: adds 1TB so they can keep more favorites ready to play.
The downside is installation, which takes a screwdriver and a few minutes following Sony's guide. At around $268, it is a premium gift that ends the "delete a game to install a game" routine.
What Makes a Great Gift for PS5 Owners
The best gifts for ps5 owners match the way they play and the setup they already have. Here is what to think about.
Think About How They Spend Their Time
A competitive online player wants a headset with a clear mic and maybe a pro controller. A story game fan wants the latest big release. A family player wants extra controllers for couch co op. Ask what they are playing right now for clues.
Useful Beats Clever
Novelty accessories are fun for a week, but controllers, storage, headsets and charging docks get used for years. Practical upgrades are the gifts PS5 owners talk about.
Set a Budget First
PS5 gifts range from $20 cables and stands to $200 pro controllers and SSDs. Decide your number first, then choose the best item in that range.
Check Size, Compatibility and Returns
Check which console they own, since some stands and covers fit only certain models. SSDs must be M.2 NVMe drives that meet Sony's requirements, ideally with a heatsink. Games come in disc and digital versions, and the PS5 Digital Edition cannot play discs without the separate disc drive. Include a gift receipt in case they already own the game.
Gift Ideas for PS5 Owners by Type
These gifts for ps5 owners are grouped by type. If you are unsure what to get ps5 owners, a second controller or a headset is almost always welcome.
Everyday Essentials They Will Actually Use
The PowerA Twin Charging Station charges two DualSense controllers on a simple stand, so a controller is always ready. An Anker HDMI 2.1 cable supports 4K at 120Hz, which matters for PS5 games with high frame rate modes on a compatible TV.
Upgrades for Their Current Setup
A wireless headset is a big upgrade over TV speakers for online play. The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5P connects to the PS5 wirelessly and switches to Bluetooth for phones, while the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 adds a flip to mute mic with AI noise reduction and quick switching between wireless and Bluetooth.
Fun and Themed Gifts
New games are the most exciting PS5 gifts. Ghost of Yōtei offers a samurai adventure around Mount Yotei in northern Japan, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 blends turn based combat with real time dodges and parries, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a colorful, family friendly showcase for the DualSense.
Experience and Subscription Gifts
A PlayStation Plus membership unlocks online multiplayer and a rotating library of games, and PlayStation Store credit lets them choose their next download. Both are perfect when you are unsure which games they own.
Small Gifts and Stocking Stuffers
The HONCAM vertical stand at around $19 gives the console a secure, upright base, and the Anker HDMI 2.1 cable at around $23 is a useful stocking stuffer.
PS5 Accessories
Among the best ps5 accessories for gifts, the DualSense Edge stands out for serious players, with swappable stick modules, back buttons and adjustable triggers. For more controller ideas across platforms, browse our guide to the best gaming gifts.

For a storage gift, offer to help install it, since many people hesitate to open their console. Bundle a game with a headset or charging dock for a complete experience, and wrap it in a box that hides the shape of the controller for a bigger surprise.
When to Order for Christmas Delivery
Popular PS5 accessories and new releases can sell out in December. Order by early December and check Amazon's official holiday shipping page for 2026 for Prime and standard cutoff dates.
