Nex Playground - The Active Play System for Kids & Families Where

The Nex Playground is an interactive video game console designed to turn screen time into physical movement for families and kids ages 5 and up. Instead of keeping players glued to a couch with standard gamepads, this compact unit transforms your living room into an active space for playdates, after-school fun, and family game nights. It solves the hassle of keeping multiple controllers charged and paired by relying entirely on body tracking.

Setup is straightforward, requiring only a simple HDMI connection to your television or projector. The device sits on an entertainment console or mantle, and its compact size allows it to pack easily into a backpack for trips. Once connected, the built-in wide-angle camera and AI tracking follow natural physical movements, allowing up to four players to jump into multiplayer matches simultaneously without holding any extra hardware or wearable sensors.

Out of the box, the console comes with five active titles: Fruit Ninja, Starri, Whac-a-Mole, Go Keeper, and Party Fowl. The system emphasizes a secure environment with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no mature content. It is kidSAFE+ COPPA certified, ensuring that motion tracking information stays strictly local and is never stored or processed in the cloud.

The primary trade-off involves catalog access. While five full games are included with the hardware, accessing the wider library of licensed titles (such as Barbie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Peppa Pig) alongside monthly game drops requires a separate paid 3-month or 12-month Play Pass subscription. Additionally, the system is designed specifically for players aged 5 and older.

Verdict: The Nex Playground is an excellent choice for households seeking controller-free, active multiplayer entertainment that gets everyone moving. It is especially suited for parents who prioritize strict digital privacy and ad-free, family-friendly gaming straight through their TV.
