TCL 65 Inch Class QM8L Series | SQD-Mini-LED QLED Smart TV | 65QM8L, 2026 Model | 144Hz | Ultimate Color Brightness & Contrast | Google AI Bang & Olufsen | Voice Control Gaming Streaming Television

The TCL 65QM8L 65 inch Mini LED TV is aimed at viewers who want a large screen with an emphasis on bright highlights, detailed contrast, gaming responsiveness, and smart entertainment features. Its SQD Mini LED QLED display combines TCL's color technology with a dimming system designed to control how brightness is distributed across the picture. That makes its overall approach particularly relevant to households choosing a television for varied viewing, from streaming shows and movies to games that benefit from fluid motion.

The picture system is the main attraction. TCL lists up to 4,000 or more discrete dimming zones and peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits, alongside a stated static contrast ratio of 7000:1. These figures describe the display's intended brightness and contrast capabilities, rather than guaranteeing identical results with every program or viewing condition. The Ultra Color Filter uses particles described as 5 nanometers, and the Enhanced Halo Control System combines several optical and panel technologies to manage light around bright objects. For shoppers who care about highlights, dark scenes, and color reproduction, these are the specifications worth examining first.

Picture processing and HDR add another layer of flexibility. The television includes AI Color, AI Contrast, AI Clarity, AI Motion, and AI Upscaling, with AI Sound also included in its feature set. These tools are intended to adjust color, contrast, detail, motion, resolution, and audio presentation. Dolby Vision IQ adds HDR adaptation based on room conditions. Together, these features make the model appealing to viewers who want picture processing to play an active role instead of relying entirely on the original source. Google Gemini interactive AI adds a voice oriented way to interact with the television and personalize entertainment.

Gaming and audio round out the package. The listed 144Hz specification is paired with Game Accelerator 288 VRR, a Game Bar, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, making gaming features a significant part of the design. Audio by Bang and Olufsen supplies the built in sound system, while an optional wireless subwoofer and satellite speakers provide a potential expansion path. Buyers should distinguish the included television features from optional audio additions when planning their setup.

The trade off is that this is a feature rich television whose headline specifications may not be equally important to every household. If gaming is occasional, advanced motion features may carry less weight than everyday streaming convenience; similarly, shoppers who already plan to use separate audio equipment may value the built in sound system differently. The screen size is fixed at 65 inches in this model, so room suitability deserves attention before purchase. Verdict: Choose this 65 inch Mini LED TV if bright, contrast focused picture technology, AI assisted processing, and gaming features are priorities in one television. Consider a simpler television if you will not use its advanced picture and gaming options, or compare other screen sizes if 65 inches does not suit your space.

Consider something else if you:

Confirm on the listing:

• Measure the intended viewing area and check the television's overall dimensions, including any space needed for your planned placement.
• Check which connections and compatibility options are available for your existing gaming devices, streaming equipment, and audio components.

How to compare your options: Start with screen size, then consider the picture specifications that matter most to your viewing habits. This model emphasizes SQD Mini LED technology, high stated peak brightness, numerous dimming zones, and Dolby Vision IQ. For gaming, compare refresh rate and the specific gaming features rather than judging by screen size alone. Finally, consider whether the built in Bang and Olufsen audio meets your preferences or whether you would want the optional sound expansion. Choose according to the features you expect to use regularly, not simply the longest feature list.

Begin by choosing a suitable location for the 65 inch screen and reviewing the supplied setup guidance. Check that the planned position works for your viewing arrangement before completing setup, and follow the manufacturer's instructions for any placement or installation decisions.

Explore the picture settings with the content you watch most often. AI Color, AI Contrast, AI Clarity, AI Motion, and AI Upscaling address different parts of picture presentation, so consider how each option affects your preferences rather than assuming every adjustment must remain enabled. Dolby Vision IQ is designed to adapt HDR presentation to room conditions.

If gaming is a regular activity, review the available gaming controls and familiarize yourself with Game Bar, Game Accelerator 288 VRR, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. Check the settings on your connected equipment as well, so the setup matches the features you want to use.

For sound, begin with the built in Bang and Olufsen speakers and decide whether they suit your viewing habits. If you choose to expand the system, check the compatibility and connection instructions for the optional wireless subwoofer and satellite speakers. For routine care, follow the manufacturer's cleaning and maintenance guidance rather than improvising a method.
