Detailed Review
The Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD Media Hub turns a single USB-C port into a full workstation setup for laptop users who need extra ports and multiple displays. It solves the issue of limited connectivity on modern laptops by providing two HDMI ports, two USB-A data ports, an Ethernet port, SD and microSD card slots, and a USB-C Power Delivery input port.
For external video, this hub supports a single display at 4K resolution running at 60Hz, or two simultaneous displays via both HDMI ports at 4K resolution at 30Hz. It also supports USB-C pass-through charging up to 85W, allowing you to charge your laptop while keeping all your accessories connected to the dock.
Compatibility covers laptops with USB-C, USB4, or Thunderbolt connections that feature DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery, operating on Windows 10, Windows 11, or ChromeOS. In terms of trade-offs, macOS users should note that external displays will show identical mirrored screens rather than extended desktops. Additionally, the hub does not work with Linux, and you must supply your own 100W PD wall charger and USB-C to USB-C cable to utilize the 85W pass-through charging feature.
Verdict: This hub is an excellent match for Windows and ChromeOS users who want a simple way to connect dual 4K monitors, wired network access, and standard USB peripherals. It packs broad connectivity into one compact accessory backed by an 18-month warranty.

A great fit if you:

- Use a Mac and need two independent, extended external displays

- Do not own a 100W PD charger for pass-through power
